Choose Fireworks over Firecrackers — Enjoy without Leaving Your Furbabies Traumatized

Fireworks A Lot More Considerate to Animals Compared w/ Firecrackers

Now that another year is about to start, may we consider that the loudest burst of firecrackers may be joyful to humans but traumatizing to animals.

The Philippines not only has one of the longest celebrations of the holiday season but as well as the loudest celebration. Undeniably, despite some regulations banning fireworks and firecrackers, Filipinos are among the people who love the tradition every New Year.

In fact, a few days prior to the start of another year, you can already hear some burst of firecrackers everywhere. Many people most especially those who are in their teenage years really enjoy going out with friends to burst some firecrackers.

However, while firecrackers bring joy to humans, they can be traumatizing to pets such as dogs and cats most especially those with the loudest bursts that can make you feel like the ground is shaking. Unfortunately, what can cause humans joy can leave our furry friends traumatized after a one-day event.

In fact, some dogs and cats prefer to flee away whenever they would hear burst of firecrackers. That is why there are a lot of reports about dogs and cats who escaped following the New Year. This is where fireworks sets an edge. They may not negatively impact our furry friends the way firecrackers can. They are released on air and often do not come with loud sounds that are disturbing to animals.

I know furparents share the same sentiment. Meanwhile, I also understand and recognize that the way of celebrating the holidays is each person’s liberty. This piece of note is just an opinion and a reminder that not only humans may be affected by the way we celebrate the holiday season and we humans have the opportunity to make the world a friendlier place for everyone — humans, animals, and all living beings.

If it is really impossible to take your pets away from the loud bursts as firecrackers have long been part of the New Year traditions in the Philippines, hugging your furries on New Year’s eve can surely bring a huge relief to them.
