The reunion movie of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes received these comments
Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera and Primetime King Dingdong Dantes starred in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry Rewind which for some has similarity to the story of a Hollywood film.
Marian and Dingdong, known as the DongYan tandem, made their fans excited this year because of their reunion movie and it’s under Star Cinema. This is one of Marian’s acting comeback projects after taking a break for quite some time.
Just recently, based on the article in PEP, Rewind held its premiere night at Cinema 7 of SM North Edsa. This event was graced by reporters and media personalities from different news entities.
The attendees were told to take a selfie before the movie started and another selfie after they watched the film. This was to show their faces after crying while watching the emotional film.
PEP writer Gorgy Rula shared that Marian Rivera thanked Star Cinema for trusting this movie to her and her husband. The entertainment writer commented that the film is indeed fit to the Kapuso royalties and they gave justice to their roles. With this, they can say that the couple deserves the Best Actress and Best Actor nominations.
Marian also expressed that they really want to convey the message of the film. “Mahalaga talaga yung oras, e. Hangga’t kaya mong bigyan ng time yung pamilya mo at iparamdam mo sa kanila na mahal mo sila, gawin mo na iyan ngayon na,” she said.
Dingdong said that they are hopeful that people would really come out and watch not just their movie but all the MMFF entries this year.
However, after the movie screening, Rula shared that two of their friends sent them the trailer of the 2004 Hollywood movie If Only featuring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Paul Nicholls. With this, Rula’s friends commented that the DongYan was “halatang kinopya raw” from the Hollywood movie.
Rewind‘s camp explained that there are indeed movies that have similar plots or stories. With this, Rula said that some people are questioning this because one of the criteria in MMFF is that the movie must be an original story.
