Love and giving are highlighted in homes as spirit of the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

The birth of Jesus Christ was described in the Biblical gospels of Matthew and Luke. It was agreed on that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Judaea.

Here is a summary of the Nativity of Jesus story that you can tell the young ones:

Mary was engaged to Joseph but she got pregnant through the intercession of the Holy Spirit. An angel appeared to Joseph telling him that he must take her as his wife and name the child Jesus “because it is he who will save His people from their sins”. The child will be the Emmanuel which means “God is with us”.

The birth of Jesus took place in the time of King Herod. Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem but found no inn. Instead, it was a manger were Jesus was born. Wise men from the East or the Magi came to Jerusalem after seeing the star at its rising. That’s when King Herod learned from the chief priests and scribes that a Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.

King Herod told the Magi to go to Bethlehem and return to him when they had found the Messiah. The wise men from the East found the baby and offered him gifts of frankincense, gold, and myrrh. They were warned by an angel not to return to King Herod.

The Magi followed the warning of the angel and it infuriated King Herod who sent out his men with an order to vanish all the children under the age of two (2) years old. An angel appeared in a dream of Joseph and told him to bring his wife and the child to Egypt where they remained until the King died.
