If you are a member of the Social Security System, one of the benefits offered by the state-run social insurance giant is the Maternity Benefit. It was designed to financially assist qualified members who are pregnant, just given birth, or those whose pregnancy was cut short due to certain medical conditions.
The SSS Maternity Benefit has financially assisted thousands of its female members nationwide in the event of pregnancy. It has been a huge help in augmenting the needs of the mother and the infant amid the weeks of being on a leave of absence from work.
With regards to the amount of the SSS Maternity Benefit, it is equivalent to the Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC) of the member which is computed based on the following:
- ADSC = Ave. MSC / 180
- x 60 days for miscarriage
- x 105 days for live childbirth (normal or caesarean section delivery)
- x 120 days for solo parent under R.A. 8972 (Solo Parents’ Welfare Act of 2000)
- 105 days + 15 days
For members who have a monthly salary credit (MSC) of at least Php 20,000, including those who earn at least Php 19,750 per month, you may get up to Php 70,000 as SSS Maternity Benefit.
However, pregnancy and an updated account are not the only qualifications to the offer of the Social Security System. It is important to make sure that you meet the eligibility requirements set by the state-run social insurance institution under the benefit offer.
The SSS qualifications for its Maternity Benefit offer includes the contributions posted by the member as well as the update or notification of the state-run social insurance institution regarding the pregnancy.
