You can check the details below on who are qualified to receive the GSIS Christmas Cash Gift and who are not eligible for it.
Undeniably, the Retirement Benefit is the benefit offer that serves as the main goal of the members of the Government Service Insurance System or GSIS. It is an assurance that when old age or the day of the retirement from work comes, you will have something to turn to financially every month.
In the Philippines, thousands of people are pensioners of the GSIS. Their monthly pension is based on the retirement program that they have chosen as well as their total posted contributions when they were still working.
Aside from the monthly pension, every December, a lot of the pensioners receive the GSIS Christmas Cash Gift. Here is the eligibility criteria for qualification to the cash gift of the state-run social insurance institution given every December:
- old-age pensioners under the Republic Act 8291, Republic Act 660, and Presidential Decree 1146 who have been receiving regular monthly pension for at least five (5) years already
- disability pensioners under the Republic Act 8291, Republic Act 660, and Presidential Decree 1146 who have been receiving regular monthly pension for at least five (5) years already
According to GSIS, the old-age and disability pensioners whose pension is suspended as of December 31, 2023 because they were not able to comply with the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR) will get their Christmas Cash Gift after the APIR.
Dependent pensioners, survivorship pensioners, pensioners under the Republic Act 7699 or the Portability Law, and those who are getting pro-rata pension are not qualified for the GSIS Christmas Cash Gift.
GSIS also stated that new pensioners from 2019 to 2023 who availed of immediate pension and 18-month cash payment under Republic Act 8291 are not qualified for the Christmas Cash Gift yet.
Retirees who have availed of five-year lump sum and those who will resume their regular monthly pension after December 31 of this year are also not eligible for the cash gift.
Members who got separated from service from 2006 to 2023 before they turned 60 and started receiving a GSIS pension between 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 are also not eligible to get the cash gift until after five (5) years.
