Carla Abellana is open to talking about the legalities of her separation from Tom Rodriguez
Kapuso actress Carla Abellana proudly said that she has moved on from her breakup with actor Tom Rodriguez as she talked about their “divorce.”
Carla and Tom’s breakup surprised a lot of showbiz enthusiasts, especially their fans. They had been together for seven years as girlfriend and boyfriend. However, just a few months after they officially tied the knot, rumors surfaced that they already separated.
Eventually, they confirmed their breakup and different issues surfaced after. Cheating accusations surfaced, as well as speculations that the breakup involved money issues. Tom’s “gender” was even questioned.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Pang-Masa, Carla Abellana was open to answering questions about her separation from Tom Rodriguez.
“Well, ‘yun nga po ang status, the status is divorce because that’s what he filed for in the US. ‘Yung dito sa Pilipinas, ibang proseso po siya parang petition po siya so ongoing po ‘yon,” the actress shared when asked about the status of their “annulment.”
Carla explained that the local court in the Philippines will just acknowledge the divorce decree from the States since Tom is a US citizen. Then, their status will be updated from that.
Technically speaking, they are already divorced in the States and this will be implemented as well by the Philippine court but this is still under process.
“Hindi po annulment… and there’s no need for annulment since sa Philippine law, hindi naman po sa parang obliged sila but they have to recognize that foreign decree, ‘yun po ‘yung magiging status, yes,” she explained.
Carla added that this is much easier because there is no “nullity” anymore. The actress also said that she is now able to talk about this and if she is asked, she can answer very well now.
“It just shows na parang ‘you’re over it’… parang ganon, nakapag-move on ka na po. Hindi naman sa komportable na pong pag-usapan pero at least kaya na pong pag-usapan,” the actress said.
Carla Abellana shared that wedding scenes in her acting projects have no effect on her anymore. She can’t count how many times she walked down the aisle for a role and it is like an ordinary scene to her already.
