Miss Grand International Founder Says Nikki de Moura Is “Very Unprofessional”

This is why the founder of Miss Grand International calls PH representative unprofessional.

Miss Grand International founder Nawat Itsaragrisil says that Philippine rep Nikki de Moura is the “wrong candidate”.

This year’s Miss Grand International 2023 was held on the 25th of October 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Miss Grand International 2022 Isabella Menin of Brazil crowned her successor.

This year’s winner is Peruvian delegate Luciana Fuster.

This is the second time Peru won the golden crown following the victory of Maria Jose Lora in 2017. On the other hand, the representative of the Philippines, Nikki De Moura was unplaced. Her journey ended early.

This is the fifth time the country did not make it to the semifinal round. The other times were 2014 (Kimberly Karlsson), 2018 (Eva Patalinghug), 2019 (Samantha Lo), and 2021 (Samantha Panlilio).

The other winners of this year tailing Peru are:

  • Ni Ni Lin Eain (1st runner-up, Myanmar)
  • Maria Alejandra Lopez (2nd runner-up, Colombia)
  • Stephanie Marie (3rd runner-up, USA)
  • Le Hoang Phuong (4th runner-up, Vietnam)

Delegates from Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, Angola, and the Netherlands completed the Top 10 finalists.

In an Instagram post, De Moura admitted that she was disappointed after she failed to make it to the Top 20. But despite this, she still chooses to be grateful. She believes that this painful experience is  “just the start of something greater”.

And in a post, the founder of the competition spoke and revealed the reason why she did not make it. Accordingly, after announcing the Top 20, the PH representative immediately left. She is also not polite.

“It’s not my fault & your candidate did not make it to Top 20. After announcing the Top 20 she decided to walk out, even her National Director did not stop her,” says the founder.

Then he added based on a post, “We invested a lot of money from day 1 to rehearsal up to finals and not showing up makes her very unprofessional. The problem with you is choosing the wrong candidate to compete, from day one she has a lot of problem/fault. You Filipinos stop blaming me as you have chosen the wrong candidate to compete.”
