November 3, 2023 Not a Holiday But a Regular Working Day, Malacañang Palace Says

Malacañang Palace has issued a clarification, stating that November 3, 2023, will not be declared a holiday.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin clarified rumors that November 3, 2023 (Friday), would be declared a holiday circulated online. The official labeled such reports as “fake news.”

The spread of misinformation claiming that the Malacañang Palace had declared November 3, 2023, as a holiday due to its placement within a long weekend led to the Palace’s clarification.

Previously, Bersamin also made it clear that the Palace had no intention of declaring October 31 a non-working day. Although October 30 was designated a holiday to accommodate the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, there would be regular working hours on October 31.

As November arrives, Filipinos will be observing the Undas season, with November 1 and 2 marked as official holidays, with November 3 and October 31 falling in between these non-working days, often referred to as “sandwiched” or “sandwich” days.

President Marcos signed Proclamation No. 42 in August last year declaring Nov. 1 (All Saints’ Day) and Nov. 2 (All Souls’ Day) as holidays.
