PURA LUKA VEGA – KSMBPI files additional charges against the controversial Filipino drag queen in connection with her viral performance of the “Ama Namin” remix.

Amadeus Fernando Pagente known as Pura Luka Vega is once again making headlines as he faces another legal trouble. The Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas Inc. (KSMBPI) filed a cybercrime case against the drag queen.

On Monday, October 23, 2023, Atty. Leo Alarte led the filing of complaint against the internet personality at the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office. KSMBPI alleges that Pagente’s drag performance was a form of “disrespect towards the Lord.”

The charges are rooted in Article 133 of the Philippine Constitution, which deals with “offending religious feelings,” as well as Section 6 of Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, which pertains to “immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions, and indecent shows” concerning the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

This is not the first time that Pura Luka Vega has found herself in legal trouble. On October 4, 2023, he was arrested at her residence in Sta. Cruz, Manila, in connection with the “Ama Namin” drag performance.

Manila Police District Station carried out the arrest, but Luka claims she did not receive any prior notice regarding the case filed by the religious group, Hijos Del Nazareno (HDN) Central, which prevented her from attending the hearings.

In addition to the charges brought by KSMBPI, Pura Luka Vega also faces a separate case filed by another religious group, the “Philippines for Jesus Movement,” at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Apart from his legal troubles, Pura Luka Vega has been declared persona non grata in nearly 20 places across the Philippines. This status implies that he is unwelcome in these areas and may face restrictions and backlash from local authorities and communities.
