Jodi Sta Maria talked about her past career choice
Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta Maria admitted that she chose to focus on her love life before that on her showbiz career and the effect of this surprised her.
Jodi started her acting career when she was just a teenager. She was part of the youth-oriented show Tabing Ilog. It is known to many that there was a time when her career took a low path.
In a recent guesting on King of Talk Boy Abunda’s Fast Talk, based on the article in GMA News, Jodi talked about her journey in the entertainment industry.
Jodi Sta Maria shared that she was already happy when she was launched on ASAP in 1998. Initially, she just wanted to be seen on TV. However, eventually, she had bigger dreams.
“Doon sa paglabas lang sa TV, pinangarap ko nang magkaroon ng regular show, and then pinangarap ko na maging star sa isang pelikula. Siyempre pinangarap ko rin naman po Tito Boy na sumikat,” the Kapamilya actress said.
Then, the time came when she had to make a big decision for her career but she chose love. “Taong 2005, bini-build na po ako ng Star Magic at ng ABS-CBN para po maging leading lady kasi po I was doing support for how many years. But then during that time, I chose love. So, nag-goodbye po ako sa Pilipinas, nagpakasal po ako sa Amerika,” Jodi shared.
A year later, she came back expecting that she could resume the pending projects that were offered to her before she got married. She told her PA that she was ready to start doing acting projects again.
“I remember this person telling me, ‘Jodi, it doesn’t work that way, you have to re-establish yourself,‘” the actress shared. With that, she tried to establish her name again in the entertainment industry.
From 2006 to 2010 she patiently waited while working hard. She was happy that she had projects but she was also waiting for her time when she could have that big break. Jodi shared that she did not get tired of what she was doing because, at that time, she was a single mother. She needed to survive to provide for her son.
Eventually, Jodi Sta Maria was able to re-establish her name in showbiz and she is now one of the most in-demand actresses.
