Senior Citizen Touches Many Hearts for Selling Drinks Despite Old Age to Support Family
ELDERLY VENDOR – A senior citizen sells drinks under the scorching sun to support the basic necessities of his family.
A Facebook user named Rose Balza recently took to social media to call for support for a senior citizen who perseveres in selling refreshments near their school. The post quickly circulates online and elicits reactions from the netizens.
Rose recounted the touching encounter she had with the elderly gentleman as she waited for her Angkas ride. She noticed the senior citizen working tirelessly under the sweltering sun, selling drinks to passersby.
What struck her even more was the fact that, despite his age and the extreme weather, he appeared genuinely content with his work. Rose decided to take a photo of him and share his story on social media with the intention of boosting his sales and helping him get back home sooner.
“I was waiting for my Angkas, then nakita ko siya. It caught my eye knowing na matanda na siya tas mainit pa pero nagwo-work parin siya na mukang masaya naman siya sa ginagawa. Kaya nagawa kong pictura’n siya and ipost para tumaas ung market niya and at the same time para maubos na ung tinda niya para makauwi na siya,” Balza said.
Balza later discovered that the senior citizen worked diligently to support his family. It was his first day on the job, and his appearance and behavior revealed his eagerness.

The lady netizen also noted that he wore an ID that indicated his senior status. When she asked why he wasn’t using an umbrella despite the scorching heat, he chose not to answer but organized the items she purchased and his merchandise display.
He was committed to maintaining the order and neatness of his products, revealing his dedication to his small business.
“Nakausap ko siya kasi bumili ako, then nakwento niya na first day niya yun and tuwang tuwa siya kaya sobrang ayos din suot niya. Nakita ko din sa suot niyang ID na senior na siya, natanong ko din bakit wala siyang payong gawa ng mainit. Hindi niya yun sinagot pero inayos niya na agad ung nabili ko at ung paninda niya. Ayaw niya na nagugulo ung display niyang paninda, at kitang kita na masaya siya sa ginagawa niya at alam mong excited. Nabanggit niya na ginagawa niya daw iyon para sa pamilya niya,” she added.
