Grace, precision, and practiced choreography are the norms in the world of competitive dancesport. However, a pair of young grade-seven students from Tacloban City decided to break the trend and deliver an impromptu performance.
The duo’s performance left spectators and judges astounded. Eljohn Rodrigo and Gerald Rosit, members of the Yellow Phoenix team, took a unique approach that combined humor and improvisation to create a memorable and entertaining experience for everyone.
The video was taken during their school’s intramural event, where Dancesport was on the schedule. Justine Carl Docil, a teacher who organized the event, was faced with a problem. The event was set to start at 3:30 PM, but there were few participants, and the Yellow Phoenix team had no entry for Dancesport.
With no time for proper choreography, Eljohn and Gerald decided to seize the moment with humor and a sense of adventure.
“Actually ako yung organizer ng event na yun (Dancesport), kaso knowing na mag-sstart na yung event by 3:30 PM tapos konti lang participants, tapos may isang team (Yellow Phoenix) walang entry sa Dancesport, yang dalawang bata ay under sa Yellow Team,” he said.
