Ifugao Welder Goes Viral for His Creative Metal Artworks
A skilled welder and metal artist from Lagawe, Ifugao has earned admiration from the netizens for his creative metal artworks.
Kelvi Galap, a metalworking enthusiast garnered praise for his ability to create a diverse array of sculptures, designs, drawings, displays, and toys solely from metal scraps and leftover pieces. He possesses creativity and perseverance in finding innovative uses for discarded materials.
On his official Facebook page, Galap proudly exhibits his artistic creations, which have not only been showcased in various locations but also sold for a considerable amount. His journey as a metal artist began relatively recently, on April 30, when he first started creating artwork from metal scraps obtained through his work as a welder.
His initial project, a “budget-size motorcycle,” drew significant attention from netizens. Galap initially considered it a playful endeavor, but when individuals expressed interest in purchasing his creations, he decided to take his passion seriously and turn it into a business.
“Nakita ko lang po sa FB isang motor na gawa sa scrap na upload ng mga foreigner tapos gumawa din ako tapos may mga naka-appreciate naman nung pinost ko kaya gumawa pa ‘ko, May mga on-going pa po akong ginagawa pa as of now,” he said.
Currently, Galap is engaged in various ongoing projects, continually pushing his creative boundaries. His metal sculptures are available for purchase, with prices ranging from P2,000 to P50,000, contingent on the design and size.
There are also smaller pieces priced at P200 to P600, although most of these have already been sold in Baguio.

Currently, Galap is engaged in various ongoing projects, continually pushing his creative boundaries. His metal sculptures are available for purchase, with prices ranging from P2,000 to P50,000, depending on the design and size.
