Senator Grace Poe Pushes for Animal Welfare Bureau Creation
It is a yes to the bill proposed by Senator Grace Poe that is concerned with the welfare of animals in the Philippines.
Have you heard about the line that most of those that shows much about humanity are animals? Truth be told that the reason why a lot of people are dog lovers because of the different companionship and protection that they feel in the comfort of their dogs.
However, not all animals in the Philippines are blessed enough to have a loving home. In fact, there are a lot of stray dogs and cats which have to go and check in the garbage bins in the pursuit to fill their stomach with food.
Upon reading the news about Senator Grace Poe’s proposed bill that targets the creation of an Animal Welfare Bureau for the protection of the welfare and rights of the animals, a personal hope sparked that it will gain much support that can turn it into a law. The Senate Bill No. 2458 wants the creation of the AWB under the Department of Agriculture.
I agree with Senator Poe that “animals do have rights, too”. They have the right to also be protected most especially from people who have ill intentions and those who are not internally animal lovers. Their lives may not be as long as the lifespan of humans but they are also living creatures who deserve to live.
The bill proposed by Senator Grace Poe has the best intentions for the animals. Surely, it will benefit countless animals most especially stray dogs and cats as it aims to create a bureau that will do the following:
- provide the standards about the appropriate food, shelter, and water for animals
- establish an animal emergency response
- implement a system for inspection of animal facilities
- monitor the local government units’ obedience to the animal welfare programs
Animals undeniably ask very little from the humanity. To ensure that they also got a good life that will help them maximize their living years would be a great move for the nation.
