BPLO Issues Cease-and-Desist Orders to Stores Selling Liquor Near Mandaue City University
Cease-and-Desist Orders were issued to stores selling liquor near the Mandaue City University under prevailing city ordinances.
The Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) issued cease-and-desist orders for several stores located near a university in Mandaue City selling liquor. The order aims to ensure the safety and well-being of the community, particularly minors.
Mandaue City, like many other municipalities, has established regulations regarding the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages, with a particular emphasis on preventing the sale of alcohol to minors.
These ordinances are designed to promote responsible alcohol sales and protect the youth from potential harm associated with underage drinking.
BPLO Inspection Division Head, Lawyer Walter Shane Lumbre emphasized the importance of adhering to these city ordinances. He disclosed that the cease-and-desist orders were issued to establishments that were caught selling liquor during their inspections.
BPLO received complaints from concerned parents and the university itself regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages near the school premises. While some of the businesses have licenses to serve and sell alcoholic beverages, they were reminded that they are strictly prohibited from selling alcohol to minors.
The cease-and-desist orders do not mean the closure of these businesses. They are still allowed to operate as long as they comply with the city’s regulations, which include refraining from selling alcohol to minors.

The establishments are still allowed to operate and serve food to customers. The focus is on promoting responsible business conduct and ensuring that the welfare of the community is safeguarded.
