Retired Col. Ariel Querubin, a recipient of the Medal of Valor, expressed his disappointment when he and several retired generals were denied access to the Heroes Lounge upon their arrival from a successful trip to Isabela and Tuguegarao.
Querubin expressed his frustration pointing out that the lounge had been reserved for what he referred to as ‘Chinese-looking’ individuals. The retired military officer questioned whether this implied that Chinese nationals were being celebrated as new heroes in the Philippines.
His post sparked a public debate about the proper use and allocation of the Heroes Lounge, a free venue created to recognize and serve heroes of the Philippine police and military, as well as their families.
The exclusive area also extends its privileges to notable persons such as Querubin, who have received the Medal of Valor for their great bravery and dedication in serving the nation.
The Medal of Valor is among the highest recognitions bestowed upon members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for acts of extraordinary courage and sacrifice. Only 41 individuals have received this prestigious honor due to their unwavering valor in the face of adversity.

After a very fruitful trip in Isabela and Tuguegarao the past few days, I was very disappointed to find that myself and a handful of retired generals were not allowed to use the Heroes Lounge of the Tuguegarao Airport because it was reserved for these chinese looking individuals.
Are the Chinese the new heroes in this country? Definitely NOT!
