Many people are fond of the tales in Greek Mythology. There are stories about love, hatred, and journey to different fictional places like the underworld being ruled by Hades. These tales often mentioned the gods and goddesses of Greek Myth, the nymphs, the demigods, the titans, and a lot more.

There are also the three sisters of fate in Greek Mythology which are known to have the mandate over the fate of gods, goddesses, and humans. There are different tales that you can actually read and although they are fictional, they often leave moral lessons.

One of the most popular characters in Greek Mythology is Hercules, a demigod or a son of a god and a moral human. Below, you will see the list of the 12 labors of Hercules in order and a story of why it happened.

Hercules is the demigod son of Zeus and Alcmene. However, Hera, the wife of the god of the sky, hated Hercules and wanted death for him. Driven by his madness towards the goddess, it resulted to the death of his sons with Megara.

After realizing what he has done, Hercules went to Delphi to ask Apollo for atonement over his actions. The Oracle of Apollo, Pythia, told him to go to his cousin, King Eurystheus, in Tiryns and stay there for twelve (12) years. The King was also disgusted with Hercules and asked him to do 12 things. Here are the 12 labors of Hercules in order:

1. Slay the Nemean Lion

2. Slay the nine-headed Lernaean Hydra

3. Capture the Golden Hind of Artemis

4. Capture the Erymanthian Boar

5. Clean the Augean stables in a single day

6. Slay the Stymphalian Birds

7. Capture the Cretan Bull

8. Steal the Mares of Diomedes

9. Obtain the girdle of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons

10. Obtain the cattle of the monster Geryon

11. Steal the golden apples of the Hesperides

12. Capture and bring back Cerberus, the three-headed dog of Hades

The 12 labors of Hercules done in order were all successful. He was able to free himself from the service of Eurystheus and atone the death of his sons. A lot of adventures came in the path of the demigod.
