No more age restriction for Miss Universe, a prestigious pageant.
The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) announced just recently that there will be no more age restrictions among candidates starting next year.
The prestigious Miss Universe pageant was established in the early 1950s and this beauty competition is very well-known worldwide. Among the crucial factors that will determine the winner include beauty, brain, personality, and elegance.
When it comes to participants, there is a set of rules to be followed and a couple of them are the following:
- between the ages of 18 and 27 as of January 1 of the competition year
- should not be pregnant, married, divorced, or parented or given birth to a kid
This year, the 72nd MU pageant will be held in El Salvador on November 18. And according to the new owner, JKN Global Group chief executive officer Anne Jakrajutatip, what they are looking for in a winner is that she has ‘The Ability to Force for Change mindset’, fearless, open-minded, positive, and is able to “seek out the opportunities from every crisis”.
But starting next year, a big change is set to happen. There will be no more age limit among the candidates.
In a statement, MOU said that “every adult woman in the world will be eligible to compete to be Miss Universe”. This change is applicable to all associated pageants globally.
Based on a report from Inquirer, MUPHCommunications Director Voltaire Tayag expressed that the organization aims to challenge the “traditional mindsets of what beauty is and what it can do”.
He believes that as long as the changes will impel them to grow and to dream, then no figures should stop them from getting the crown.
The elimination of the age limit is also a wish of reigning Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel who is now 28 years old.
