Jean Garcia shared what she usually does in a slap scene with a co-actor
Award-winning actress Jean Garcia talked about the technique she uses when doing a scene in which she has to slap a co-actor.
Jean has been in the industry for many years already. She has done different TV series and movie projects over the years that proved her versatility. However, she is known greatly for her “kontrabida” roles.
Doing drama scenes, especially confrontational ones, are more likely to have “sampalan” and Jean is good at this.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, the seasoned actress said that in her 30 years in the entertainment industry, her passion for acting has never gone.
She is currently part of the Kapuso primetime series Maging Sino Ka Man in which Barbie Forteza is the lead star. Previously, Barbie received praise from Jean for being a good actress and a good person as well.
The seasoned actress shared that she enjoys doing “kontrabida” roles. For her, this kind of role is exciting and she is able to play around it. When it comes to “sampalan” scenes, Jean said that she should remove all her accessories first. “Kasi ayaw mong aksidenteng masasaktan mo sila,” she said.
Jean also said that the movement should be measured as well because it is painful to be slapped on the face. It is also painful to the part of the slapper because the hand seems to have punched something.
Then, the seasoned actress would give instructions to her co-stars. “Ang sinasabi ko lang sa co-actor ko, ‘wag kang gagalaw, ‘wag mong i-expect yung aking sampal. Kasi pag in-expect mo ‘yung sampal ko, kapag nauna ‘yung ilag mo, tatamaan ka sa tenga, masakit,” she shared.
Jean Garcia added that there are times when she would do a different timing so that it will look more natural.
