Eat Bulaga YouTube Channel: TVJ To File Case Versus TAPE Inc

TVJ reacts to TAPE’s acquisition of Eat Bulaga YouTube channel

TAPE Inc. gained access to manage the Eat Bulaga YouTube channel and TVJ’s camp has prepared to bring this issue to the court.

The legal battle between Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, and the production company behind the longest-running noontime show is definitely not yet over, especially the copyright issue. Previously, the two camps argued who has the right to use the title of the show.

TVJ claimed it was Joey who created the show’s title and so they have the right to use it while TAPE claimed that it is the company owning the said title.

Just recently, another issue surfaced between the two camps. The Eat Bulaga YouTube channel is now being managed by TAPE. The production company’s legal counsel Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque confirmed that TAPE gained access to the account on the video-sharing social media platform.

“This is very important to us dahil gusto rin namin makaabot ang ‘tulong at saya’ even to our online viewers. So sa ating mga Kapuso, please don’t forget to like and subscribe!” the TAPE’s lawyer said.

Previous reports stated that TAPE was not able to access the YouTube channel anymore last May. It was said that the email and password of the account were not turned over to the production company when TVJ and the legit Dabarkads decided to leave TAPE.

In line with this matter, Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz Jr., the legal counsel of TVJ stressed that the iconic trio is the owner of the YT account. “The owner of the YouTube channel is the owner of the email used to register it. It is not TAPE,” he said.

The lawyer also stressed that the channel contains past episodes of the noontime show and the copyright of these belong to TVJ. “We are preparing the appropriate legal action. This may constitute a cyber crime if they hacked into the account or made misrepresentations to YouTube,” he added.
