It has been a tradition of beauty pageants around the globe to feature swimsuit competitions in preliminaries, as well as, during the coronation night.

In a Facebook post, The Miss Philippines revealed the reason why it chose not to have a swimsuit competition. “It’s not that we have anything against swimsuits. In fact, we will hold photoshoots at our world-famous beaches and resorts. But onstage, we’d like to shift the focus on things other than a woman’s vital statistics. The Miss Philippines is a platform for a woman’s voice to be heard, for her influence to be felt, and for her passion to promote Filipino culture and heritage be amplified,” the pageant organization said.

It added that there would be an exciting Runway Segment that would highlight each candidate.

Aside from the no-swimsuit pageant, The Miss Philippines is also introducing a new concept when it comes to the evening gown competition.

It said that a major GLAM Red Carpet Moment will replace the evening gown competition. Through this portion, candidates “have the choice to wear what they want and to be able to show off their best version of formal wear– whether it’s an avant-garde tailored pantsuit or the most fabulous couture gown.”

The pageant organization stressed that red carpet-events all over the world already showcase a variety of evening wear. “Women have the option of wearing more than the typical evening gown to show off their character and personality,” The Miss Philippines stated.

The screening dates for this pageant will be on September 2 & 9, 2023, from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Enderun Coworking Estancia – 2nd Floor, South Wing, Estancia Mall, Meralco Ave. Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
