MIKE ENRIQUEZ – Following the stories that left netizens abuzz, GMA confirmed that veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez has died.

Veteran broadcaster and host Mike Enriquez has died at the age of 71. This confirmation from the GMA network came following the stories that emerged online. It left many people baffled.

The death stories about Enriquez that currently circulated online left netizens with mixed reactions.

And as the confirmation came, the world of journalism mourned over the loss of a legend. He passed away on Tuesday, August 29, and left a legacy. According to the reports, he was 71 years old.

Apart from 24 Oras, Enriquez was known for his long stint in “Saksi,” “Super Radyo DZBB” and “Imbestigador.”

During the August 29 episode of 24 Oras, reporters Mel Tiangco, Vicky Morales, and Emil Sumangil all wore black and dark-colored outfits. This is to pay respect to their colleague who passed away.

Mel Tiangco confirmed the news towards the end of the program. Vicky Morales even had this emotional moment where she broke down on national television after the announcement.

It is with profound sadness that GMA network announces the passing of our beloved Kapuso, Mr. Miguel “Mike” C. Enriquez, who peacefully joined our Creator on August 29, 2023.

His health issues

Some of the health struggles of the seasoned broadcaster were public. In 2018, he disclosed that he had been getting regular treatments for his kidney disease. In the same year, he underwent a heart bypass.

He was also diabetic.

In December 2021, he had a kidney transplant and was required for a three-month isolation for his recovery. In March 2022, he returned to reporting but three months later, he went off-air again.
