Pura Luka Vega Declared Persona Non Grata in Batangas City

Batangas City Declares Pura Luka Vega a Persona Non Grata

The well-known drag artist “Pura Luka Vega,” has been declared “persona non grata” in the city of Batangas. The declaration came after the City Council passed a resolution condemning the viral drag artist.

City Councilor Boy Dimacuha introduced the resolution, which labels Pura Luka Vega as persona non grata and eventually approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod following the inappropriate performance of the internet personality.

According to Dimacuha, Pura Luka abused the principle of “freedom of expression,” and in his view, such freedom should have its limits. The issue starts with his unconventional act where he danced to a remix of “The Lord’s Prayer” or “Ama Namin” while dressed as the Black Nazarene.

Previously, the drag artist had been declared persona non grata in the provinces of Laguna and Occidental Mindoro and other areas within the Southern Luzon region. These local government units made these declarations after Vega brushed off the criticisms with his latest statement during a performance Apotheka Manila in Makati City.

“So, para sa mga ibang lugar na gusto pa mag persona non grata diyan. dagdagan niyo pa! Pakialam ko. There’s separation ng church at ng state,” he said.

The personality remains unapologetic despite receiving massive amount of criticisms from the online community. It’s expected that additional regions may also consider declaring him persona non grata due to his provocative behavior.

Earlier this week, Lucena City councilor declares Pura Luka Vega as persona non grata
