The Philippines is celebrating Ninoy Aquino Day on August 21
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. has this message to all Filipinos for the celebration of Ninoy Aquino Day.
On August 21, 1983, at the Manila International Airport (MIA), now known as NAIA, Ninoy was killed. This celebration is backed by Republic Act 9256 and this day is a special non-working holiday. This year is the 40th death anniversary of the famous political figure in the history of politics in the Philippines.
He was known as one of the prominent political personalities who challenged and criticized the administration of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. Years later, supporters of both political families still had a barrier between them, and this saga in Philippine politics continued.
However, President Marcos calls for unity in commemorating Ninoy Aquino Day this year. In a statement released on Monday, based on the post on CNN Philippines’ official X (Twitter) Page, the Chief Executive of the Philippines said that his administration is joining the celebration of this holiday. PBBM said that the late Senator was an “example of relentlessness and resolve for many Filipinos.“
He also stressed the importance of having one goal for the country. “In a resolute quest for a more united and prosperous Philippines, let us transcend political barriers that hamper us from securing the comprehensive welfare and advancement of our beloved people,” the President.
The Chief Executive encourages Filipinos to let this compelling force promote collaboration, celebrate diversity, and have a society that is full of vitality and inspiration. He also said that Filipinos should set aside biases and let the welfare of everyone be each other’s priority.
