Awra Briguela is back online after a controversial incident last June

Kapamilya star Awra Briguela broke her social media hiatus to promote her new show after taking a break when she was involved in a brawl incident in Makati over a month ago.

Awra went viral when he was involved in a fight in a bar at the Poblacion last June. The video of the incident circulated on social media, garnered mixed reactions from the online community after she was arrested. The hashtag “Justice for Awra” became a top trend. However, there were also those who criticized her after the CCTV footage surfaced online.

After that controversy, Awra apparently chose to be silent. Her last post on Instagram prior to the viral incident was on June 28.

On August 9, the Kapamilya star broke her social media hiatus. She shared the official poster of her new show Comedy Island Philippines with Andrea Brillantes, Carlo Aquino, Drew Arellano, Rufa Mae Quinto, Jerald Napoles, Justin Luzares, and Cai Cortez.

This is set to be released on August 31 on Prime Video. Quark Henares, head of Originals, Philippines at Prime Video said that this is an “ambitious format, a hybrid between reality, comedy, and adventure, shot on an island with massive sets, which features both the best comedic talent from the two major networks in the Philippines and the new emerging voices including the up-and-coming social media superstars,” based on the article in ABS-CBN News.
