Richard Reynoso revealed that he thought of courting Lea Salonga in the past
OPM hitmaker Richard Reynoso admitted that he had plans to court Broadway diva Lea Salonga when they were younger but this did not push through because of an “issue.”
Lea Salonga is married to Chinese businessman Robert Charles Chien and they have a daughter named Nicole. Back when she was younger, there were showbiz personalities who were linked to her.
In a recent guesting on Carmina Villarroel’s Kapuso show Sarap Di Ba?, Richard was asked about the “past” that he and Lea had.
The wife of Zoren Legaspi is a big fan of Lea Salonga. “Totoo ba na noong kabataan mo, niligawan mo ang idol ko na si Ms. Lea Salonga? Saan umabot ang panliligaw mo?” the Kapuso actresa-host asked Richard Reynoso.
The male singer said that technically he did not court the Broadway diva. He shared that when they were younger, he and Lea were really close. Even their mother would frequently talk to each other back then.
Richard revealed that he did not reach the point of courting Lea because of an issue that he never had the chance to clarify at that time. “Noong point na pupuwede sanang umabot doon, hindi umabot doon kasi pinasukan kami ng intriga,” he said.
The OPM hitmaker shared that there was a reporter who called him and asked him if he likes Lea and if he wants to court her. His answer at that time was “not yet” because he wanted to finish his studies first.
However, when the write-up was published in newspapers, a different story was told. “Ang lumabas sa dyaryo, si Richard Reynoso hindi type si Lea Salonga. Mula noon nagkaano na…I wasn’t given a chance,” the singer said.
He said that he was not given a chance to explain his side of the story. When asked if he had a chance to clear this issue with Lea, Richard said that he was not able to talk to her anymore back then because she was set to leave for Miss Saigon.
