Maynilad Consumer Expresses Dismay Over P9.6-M Water Bill
A Maynilad consumer gets shocked and expresses his dismay after receiving his water bill that would reach P9.6 million.
A Maynilad Water Services customer, Manny Pastorites Jr., was left in utter shock and dismay when he received his water bill for the month of July. To his astonishment, the total amount indicated on the bill reached a staggering P9,678,476.88.
Mr. Pastorites, who resides in a small house consisting of only one room, a small toilet, and a sink, couldn’t believe the exorbitant amount he was being asked to pay. Feeling overwhelmed, he expressed his frustration, stating that he would not be able to afford the bill even until the day he passed away.
“Siguro sa pagtanda ko, hanggang sa mamatay na lang ako, hindi ko kayang bayaran ‘yon. Kulang-kulang sampung milyon. Gumagawa nga ako, napahinto ako eh, parang nabuhusan ako ng tubig, ‘Totoo ba ‘to?” Manny said.
He further emphasized that even if all the residents in his entire community of Merryville pooled their resources together for five months, they still wouldn’t be able to cover such an astronomical bill.
In response to the alarming situation, a representative from Maynilad assured Mr. Pastorites that his water supply would not be disconnected, and they pledged to resolve the issue promptly. The water company also issued an apology for the mistake and stated their commitment to launching a thorough investigation into the incident.

“Definitely, hindi po siya babayaran so actually, meron po ginawang hakbang diyan si commercial po namin ni revise na po yan and then nagpadala na po ng billing statement,” Maynilad zone specialist Peter Veriño said.
