Typhoon Egay Update: PAGASA Eases Typhoon Signal As Egay Weakens

PAGASA issues typhoon Egay update as it weakens going northwestward.

TYPHOON EGAY UPDATE – PAGASA stated in the latest weather bulletin that Egay slightly weakens and lifted signal no. 4 in these areas.

Super typhoon Egay has an international name Doksuri. Its strength wreaks havoc in several regions of the Philippines and many parts of the country are still suffering from floods and landslides.

Yesterday even, Egay signal no. 5 was raised in Camiguin Island.

One victim was killed and hundreds were greatly affected. The storm made landfall at 3:10 a.m. local time near northern Fuga Island. And in the latest bulletin from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the state weather bureau noted that Egay has slightly weakened.

It is now moving northwestward and signal no. 4 has been lifted in parts of northern Luzon as it continues to weaken.

To date, here is the wind signals list:

    • northwestern portion of Ilocos Norte (Bangui, Pagudpud, Burgos, Pasuquin)
  • Signal No. 2
    • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Kalinga, Abra, the rest of Ilocos Norte, Apayao, northern and central portion of Ilocos Sur (Gregorio del Pilar, Magsingal, San Esteban, Banayoyo, Burgos, City of Candon, Santa Lucia, Santiago, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, Lidlidda, Nagbukel, Sinait, Suyo, Sigay, San Ildefonso, Galimuyod, Quirino, City of Vigan, San Emilio, Cabugao, Caoayan, San Juan, Santa, Bantay, Santo Domingo, Santa Cruz, Santa Maria, Narvacan, Salcedo, Tagudin, Cervantes), western portion of Mountain Province (Besao, Sagada, Bontoc, Sadanga, Tadian, Sabangan, Bauko), and Batanes
  • Signal No. 1
    • Isabela, the rest of Mountain Province, Ifugao, Zambales, Pangasinan, Benguet, La Union, Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Ilocos Sur, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, northern portion of Bataan (Morong, Samal, Orani, Hermosa, Dinalupihan) and the northern portion of Bulacan (Hagonoy, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Paombong, City of Malolos, Plaridel, Guiguinto, Pandi, Bustos, Angat, Calumpit, Pulilan, Baliuag, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, San Miguel)

These are the latest areas under signal numbers 1, 2, and 3 based on the update from PAGASA.

Meanwhile, as of 7 PM, Egay’s center was 95 kilometers west northwest of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
