Typhoon Egay Brings Inclement Weather Condition, Which Causes Flooding Over Parts of Metro Manila

Typhoon Egay continues to bring strong winds and heavy rains, leading to flooding in parts of Metro Manila.

Over the past few years, Typhoon Egay has battered various parts of the country with its strong winds and heavy rainfall. It was last located over the coastal waters of Aparri, with strong typhoon-force winds extending outwards up to 700 km from the center.

Egay has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 240 kph.

According to PAGASA, the typhoon is enhancing the southwest monsoon, bringing monsoon rains over the western portions of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas within three days.

Gusty weather conditions are expected over Luzon, Visayas, Batanes, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, the southern portion of Quezon, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas until Friday.

On Wednesday (July 26, 2023), the continuous heavy rains caused floods in some parts of Metro Manila.

Motorists faced a challenge as knee-deep floods affected sections of Arkong Bato, one of the major roads in Valenzuela City.

In Malabon City, gutter-deep floods were experienced along MH Del Pilar, Maysilo, and Tatawid intersection.

Around 3 am, several portions of Rizal Avenue corner C3 Road in Caloocan and Araneta Avenue in Quezon City were also submerged in floodwaters.

As of this writing, all affected roads remain passable to all vehicles.
