Regarding Egay typhoon update, here are some PAGASA reminders for Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5

EGAY TYPHOON UPDATE – PAGASA sets reminders for areas where signal number 5 was raised as Egay maintains its strength.

Signal No. 5 is the highest tropical cyclone wind signal and due to the approaching Super Typhoon Egay (Doksuri), this was raised. This tropical wind signal is now in effect on Camiguin Island.

According to the issued bulletin as of 5 PM from The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Egay maintains its strength and remains a threat in Northern Luzon. It moves Northwestward at 20 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 230 km/h.

In the next 24 hours, the super typhoon will be bringing moderate to rough seas. Severe winds will also be experienced in areas under Wind Signal No. 5 while significant to severe impacts signal number 4.

Under Wind Signal No. 3, there will be moderate to significant impacts, minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds in signal number 2, and minimal to minor impacts from strong winds in signal number 1.

As for areas under Signal No. 5, PAGASA reminds:

  • more than 185 km/h is expected in at least 12 hours
  • strong winds may result in:
    • widespread damage to high-risk structures
    • very heavy damage to medium-risk structures
    • heavy damage to low-risk structures
    • total damage to structures with light materials
    • residential and institutional buildings may suffer from severe damage
    • disrupted electrical power distribution and communication services
  • what to do:
    • seek stronger shelter or go to a designated evacuation center for safety
    • evacuate immediately if from low-lying areas and riverbanks
    • stay away from coastal areas

Quezon including Polillo Islands, the rest of Aurora, the rest of Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Benguet, the rest of La Union, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Cavite, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Batangas, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Marinduque

Areas under Signal No. 2

The rest of Isabela, northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao), Quirino, the rest of Kalinga, northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Quezon, Diadi, Bagabag, Ambaguio, Villaverde, Solano, Bayombong), Ilocos Sur, the rest of Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, northern portion of Benguet (Bakun, Mankayan, Buguias, Kabayan, Kibungan, Atok) and northern portion of La Union (Bangar, Sudipen, Luna, Balaoan, Santol)

Areas under Signal No. 3

The northeastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, Maconacon, Palanan, Santa Maria, San Pablo, Santo Tomas, Cabagan, Tumauini), the rest of Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, the northern portion of Kalinga (Rizal, Pinukpuk, Balbalan), Batanes and the northern portion of Abra (Tineg, Lagayan, Lacub, Danglas)

Areas under Signal No. 4

The northern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Claveria, Sanchez-Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Aparri, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Camalaniugan, Santa Praxedes) and the rest of Babuyan Islands
