Manny Pacquiao Announced He Will Fight Buakaw Banchamek in 2024
The Filipino legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao announced that he will face Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek in 2024.
“The Match of Legends” is the title of the boxing match that will take place in 2024 between Manny Pacquiao and Buakaw Banchamek. Filipino boxing is scheduled to make another return to the ring, this time against Muay Thai legend.
According to organizers, the battle will be fought under “international boxing rules.” Pacquiao’s most recent battle was a unanimous decision win to YouTube martial artist DK Yoo.
Pacquiao, 44, triumphed in a six-round exhibition boxing bout against Yoo at the Korea International Exhibition Center in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, South Korea. He also agreed to fight in the Japanese mixed martial arts promotion Rizin Fighting Federation early this year.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao’s most recent official fight was a unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas in a world title battle in August 2021, following which he announced his retirement from the sport. Pacquiao, boxing’s only eight-division world champion, has a career record of 62-8-2 and is widely regarded as one of the best of all time.
Meanwhile, Buakaw is a great Thai athlete who has won titles in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, including the K-1 World MAX tournament. In both sports, the 41-year-old has a 240-24-14 record with 73 knockouts. He also fought in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC).
