VP Sara Duterte Warns Public Against Scammers Soliciting Money Using the OVP
Vice President Sara Duterte gives a warning to the public against scammers allegedly using the Office of the Vice President (OVP) to solicit money.
On the official Facebook page of OVP and Sara Duterte, former President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter, a warning about scammers is issued. Duterte condemned such money gathering as a swindle relying on the kindness of innocent people.
“The Office of the Vice President warns the public about activities involving the illegal collection of money made on behalf of the Office by unscrupulous individuals or groups,” according to the letter posted on the Facebook page of the OVP and Duterte.
According to the OVP, it received a tip from Himamaylan, Negros Occidental, about an individual requesting P50 per person in order to receive financial assistance from the Vice-President. The OVP lied about this conduct and called it a scam.
“This is a scam,” the post reads.
As a result, the OVP encouraged the public to report such acts to the police station or other municipal authorities. The letter goes on to say that anyone interested in OVP initiatives should only do so through official social media channels, the OVP Central Office, and satellite offices.
OVP has satellite offices in Davao, Zamboanga, Cotabato, Tandag, Cebu, Bacolod, Tacloban, Isabela, and Dagupan, according to the report. It also operates two Public Assistance Division (PAD) Extension Offices, one in Lipa, Batangas, and the other in Tondo, Manila.
