Sheryn Regis admitted what she felt after not winning the Star In A Million championship
Singer Sheryn Regis revealed that reason why she felt “inis” when it was her competitor Erik Santos who won in Star In A Million.
The said TV singing competition happened in 2003 and its grand finals became controversial because of the reaction that Sheryn had. It can be seen that the female singer frowned when it was Erik’s name was called as the champion.
It was obvious that she did not like what she heard and apparently she was expecting that she will be the winner.
Back then, Sheryn Regis received negative reactions. After two decades, based on the article in Bandera, the singer from Cebu recalled that moment. Erik Santos was one of her guests during her āAll Outā anniversary concert at the Music Museum on July 8.
On stage, Sheryn explained why she had that kind of expression when she did not win. āAt that time, I really wanted to win. I needed money. Kakapanganak ko lang,ā the singer said, adding that at that time, the hotel where she and her former husband were working was closed.
Back then, Sheryn shared that she had these thoughts, āPaano na āyung anak ko? āYung pamilya ko? Sana nakuha ko āyun, pero hindi e.” The cash prize for the singing contest was P1 million.
She also shared that she only got P16,000 as a consolation prize. On the other hand, she clarified that her reaction was not really intentional.
āI really didnāt mean to react that way during the announcement back then. I just couldnāt help it. Hindi ko mapigilan. Gusto ko lang āyung cash prize. Gusto ko lang talaga āyun,ā Sheryn Regis.
