Sheryn Regis was struggling in the past for not revealing who she really is
Singer Sheryn Regis, known as the Crystal Voice of Asia, shared her coming out story in a recent episode of Toni Talks, the YouTube talk show of Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga.
Sheryn is a “kontesera” since she was young. From the age of 7, she has been joining different singing competitions in Cebu until she was hailed second place in Star In A Million.
Through that singing competition on TV, opportunities in the entertainment industry were given to Sheryn but in 2010, she decided to leave her career in the Philippines and lived in the States to focus on her role as a mother.
However, in the said interview, Sheryn Regis admitted that she also felt tired during that time and so she decided to take a break. She came back to the Philippines in 2020 when her dad died and thought of reviving her career but the lockdown happened.
With all the things she went through, Tito Earl, the father of her daughter Sweet, never stopped supporting her, until the time she decided to come out. Sheryn said that she made this big decision when she was about to turn 40.
The singer shared that the coming out happened in 2018. She talked to Tito Earl and Sweet and directly said to them, “I’m a lesbian. I’m not straight.” Sheryn wanted to end the lies that she is doing to them and to herself because she kept on denying it.
She also shared that her daughter already had an idea about it because Sweet has noticed that she is not the usual mother that other kids have. When asked about Tito Earl’s reaction after her revelation, Sheryn said that he cried and said sorry for not knowing about this earlier.
The singer also revealed that since she was 14 years old, she already felt an attraction towards other women. Back then, she felt weird because she was not ready to embrace that side of herself. At that time, Sheryn Regis has no full understanding of what she is because she knows that she has a “kikay” personality.
