Here are the official full-length feature films for Cinemalaya 2023
Cinemalaya 2023 – The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival released the official entries under the full-length feature films category.
Ten (10) movies will be competing this year. In the list of official entries different genres are being featured including documentary and animated entries.
Based on the article in The Philippine Star, this festival of films will take place on August 4 to 13 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
The Cinemalaya 2023 entries will also be screened at the CCP’s Black Box Theater, TriNoMa, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, and Glorietta cinemas. Here are the official entries.
Ang Duyan Ng Magiting – This film features Dolly De Leon, Bituin Escalante, Agot Isidro, Miggy Jimenez, Jojit Lorenzo, Frances Makil-Ignacio, Paolo O’Hara, Joel Saracho and Dylan Ray Talon. Dustin Celestino is the winter and director of this film.
As If It’s True – Khalil Ramos and Ashley Ortega lead this film with supporting cast members such as Adrianna So, John Silverio, Angellie Sanoy, Rachel Coates and Marnie Lapus.
Bulawan Nga Usa Golden Deer – In this movie that is about a man who wants to escape from reality, Ron Matthews Espinosa and John Niel Paguntalan are the main characters while CJ Pagayon, Filemon Capanang, Babbeth Fuentes Vargas, Tara Rose Molina, GC Castro, Lolita Madrid, Krystoffer Ays Grabato and Sharon Idione are supporting characters.
Gitling – The movie is written and directed by Jopy Arnaldo and features Gabby Padilla, Ken Yamamura and Emmanuel Dela Cruz as lead stars.
Iti Mapupukaw (The Missing) – It is the first Cinemalaya’s first animated full-length entry and this is the life of a mouthless young man while his memories untangle when an alien enters the picture. This movie features Carlo Aquino, Gio Gahol and Dolly De Leon.
Huling Palabas – In this film, Shun Mark Gomez and Bon Andrew Lentejas are the lead stars while Jay Gonzaga, Serene Magiliw, Senanda Gomez and Cedrick Juan are the supporting characters.
Maria – This is Cinemalaya’s first documentary in the full-length competition and this is under the direction of Sheryl Rose Andes.
Rookie – Pat Tingjuy, Aya Fernandez and Agot Isidro are the lead stars in this film and it is about a tall, awkward teenager who fell in love with the team captain of her new all-girl Catholic high school’s volleyball team.
Tether – Gian Arre is the director of this film and features Mikoy Morales and Jorrybell Agoto as lead stars. This is about an arrogant playboy and a timid young woman who discovered after a one-night stand that whatever pleasure or pain they inflict on themselves is simultaneously felt by the other.
When This Is All Over – This “escape from reality” movie features Juan Karlos Labajo and Jorrybell Agoto as lead stars, and this is under the direction of Kevin Mayuga.
