Julie Anne San Jose received criticism due to the “Pop Icon” tag
Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose has this reaction to the “Pop Icon” issue involving the name of Magandang Buhay host Jolina Magdangal.
To recall, when the coaches of The Voice Generations on GMA were revealed, Julie Anne was referred to as the “Pop Icon.” This did not sit well with the fans of Jolina. During the 90s and early 2000s, the Kapamilya star became a household name.
Jolina was known as a trendsetter and her music is well-loved by many as well. This is the reason why her fans reacted negatively when Julie Anne was called the Pop Icon because, for them, this title is most fitted to be given to Jolina.
In a recent interview, Julie Anne San Jose was asked about this issue, based on the article in Abante. She admitted that she felt bad that an issue was created about this.
âHindi talaga maiiwasan na ma-feel bad about it. May pinagsamahan kami ni Ate Jolens,” she said. The Kapuso star also said that there is no reason for creating an issue from this because they have a good relationship.
“Magaan ang loob namin sa isaât isa. I have so much respect for Ate Jolens! Bata pa lang ako, parang naging ate-ate ko na siya! Nagkasama na kami sa work noon. So, wala talagang reason para magkaroon ng resentment sa amin,” the Kapuso singer-actress said.
Julie Anne also stressed that she is not owning any title and that the title really belongs to Jolina and she deserves it. Abante entertainment writer Dondon Sermino jokingly said that the title Mrs. Cruz really fits Julie Anne.
“Ay, hahahahahaha! Nakakatawa naman! Hahahahaha! Basta happy ako. Hahahahaha!â the singer-actress said. Julie Anne San Jose is currently in a relationship with Rayver Cruz.
