Piolo Pascual gets out of the rom-com genre
A-list actor Piolo Pascual shared his thoughts on his first-ever horror film titled Mallari, based on the first documented serial killer priest in the Philippines.
Piolo has been in the industry for several decades now, however, it is only his first time doing a horror film. In the past years, he was doing romantic-comedy films and series or heavy drama acting projects.
This year, Piolo will have the chance to be featured in a horror film and he is excited about this.
In a recent media conference, based on the article in PUSH, Piolo Pascual revealed that he is a fan of horror films but since he was given rom-com projects, he was not able to try this genre.
After reading the script, Piolo shared that he find it interesting because of the truthfulness of his character. Although this is a fictional movie, it is based on a real person who existed years ago.
“So sinabi ko ko there are a lot of films coming out from different countries because of the streaming platforms we are able to watch them and I think we should be proud of what we can give as well,” the actor said.
The movie also involves supernatural things and Piolo said that he has not experienced like this in real life but he is open to this kind of stuff. “I just have respect for the cinema and high respect for my craft so I’m just going to delve into it and dig deep and see where it can take us. Ipagdadasal ko na lang na walang supernatural na mangyayari. Huwag naman,” he said and then laughed.
Piolo Pascual is also aware that this movie will be a challenging one for him. This is the reason why he is doing the needed preparations.
“This is going to be really hard for me physically exhausting, emotional draining, portraying three roles but I’m up for the challenge and I’m happy to be given this opportunity to be acting for this film because it’s quite an interesting story and an interesting character too,” he said.
Aside from his acting project, Piolo will have a concert in November at the Resorts World. Next month, he will be touring with his fellow Cornerstone artists.
