In celebration of Father’s Day, artist Joneil Severino, 24, from Gandara, Samar, paid tribute to his inspiring acquaintance, Tatay Pablo, a dedicated father who sells ice cream to provide for his family and support his children’s education.
Through a remarkable leaf art piece, Severino captured the essence of Tatay Pablo’s unwavering commitment and honored him on this special occasion.
During a walk in the park, Severino and his friend came across Tatay Pablo, who spent the entire day selling ice cream to make ends meet for his family. As Severino purchased some of Tatay Pablo’s goods, he was deeply touched by the vendor’s story.
Tatay Pablo’s relentless pursuit of providing for his family and ensuring his children’s education left a lasting impression on Severino.
Inspired by Tatay Pablo’s dedication, Severino decided to immortalize him through leaf art. He approached Tatay Pablo and requested his permission to use him as the subject for his artwork.
After receiving consent, Severino took a photograph of Tatay Pablo, which he would later use as a reference for his leaf art creation. Using kalamansi leaves, Severino spent an hour meticulously crafting the tribute piece.
The following day, Severino returned to the spot where Tatay Pablo sold ice cream, presenting him with the leaf art as a heartfelt Father’s Day gift. Severino was overjoyed to witness Tatay Pablo’s delight and gratitude upon receiving the unexpected present.
The artwork symbolized not only appreciation for the ice cream vendor’s determination but also served as a reminder of the importance of fathers who strive to ensure their families’ well-being.
