Police Authorities Arrest Man for Alleged Abuse & Pimping of 16-Year-Old Girl
In the early hours of Friday (June 16, 2023), a man was apprehended in North Caloocan for allegedly abusing and pimping a 16-year-old girl.
According to the victim’s mother, her daughter had left their home, but she never imagined that the young girl would be subjected to such horrific experiences in their new place of residence.
The mother also claimed that she had no knowledge of the presence of men, including the suspect, who also resides in the area. Police investigations revealed that the minor had allegedly been abused not just once but repeatedly by different men.
On the other hand, the 22-year-old suspect vehemently denied the accusations, claiming that they were fabricated. He stated that he and the victim had met on Facebook and had been in a romantic relationship, but the girl refuted his claims.
The suspect may face charges for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
Police Cpl. Katrina Paran of the PNP North Caloocan Women & Children Protection Desk issued a reminder for parents to be vigilant about their children’s online interactions. “Kasi yung ano ngayon, gadget, dyan talaga pumapasok mga nagiging problema,” she said.
Law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, and the community as a whole must work together to raise awareness about the risks associated with online interactions, particularly for vulnerable minors.
