A loving father has shared the heartbreaking story of his special child being leftout or ignored by other children.
Jaime De Guzman’s heartfelt story about his son, Jamir, and the frequent instances of him feeling left out has sparked various reactions on social media. In his post, he shared a photo of Jamir, referring to him as his “AUsome kid” – a term often used to describe children with autism.
According to Jaime, the photo captures a common scene at the playground when his son is playing with other children.
He explained, “Jamir is usually being left out or ignored. Wala siyang bilang kumbaga. Madalas, hindi siya isasali ng ibang bata sa kanilang laro. Kung isasali man, siya ang taya. Kung isasali man, after few minutes, umiiyak na si Jamir at aayaw na,”
Jaime further revealed that when Jamir is included, it comes with conditions such as “Kung isasali man e may kondisyon tulad ng ‘kuha ka food sa inyo’ o ‘kuha mo kami ng tubig para friends tayo.’ Knowing Jamir, he will comply kasi gusto nyang maging belong. Otherwise makakarinig ka ng ‘wag mong isali yan, hindi naman nakakaintindi yan’ o di kaya ay ‘wag na yan isali kasi hindi marunong, iyak lang nang iyak.’”
As a parent, Jaime expressed the pain he feels when witnessing such situations. He can’t blame the other children, but this breaks his heart as a father. In these situations, he just watch and let Jamir process the situation on his own.
Guzman is hoping that in due time, Jamir will meet genuine friends – people who will understand his differences, people who will be compassionate and won’t leave him behind.
Jaime’s story sheds light on the challenges faced by children with special needs and the importance of fostering inclusivity and empathy. It serves as a reminder that every child deserves acceptance and understanding, regardless of their differences.
