Arjo Atayde talked about having the chance to be at Cannes
Kapamilya actor Arjo Atayde revealed the valuable lesson he learned from his Cannes Film Festival experience.
The said film festival is one of the most prestigious events that showcases films from around the globe. Arjo had the chance to be part of the 2022 MIPCOM Cannes in which they showcased the series Cattleya Killer.
The second season of this psychological thriller is already being worked out. In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Arjo said that in order to get to Cannes, he realized that one should get into “genre films.”
Arjo Atayde said that this is highly accepted in foreign countries. Another thing that he learned is that the Philippine film industry should focus more on horror, thriller, and action genres.
The actor also noticed that in other countries, there is a hub in which they generate films in these genres and are supported to deliver their materials to different parts of the world.
“I don’t mean any disrespect to those in the rom-com genre—but there are other directors from other genres who are hoping to be given the same opportunity to tell stories. That is definitely one important lesson, to create a hub that could help all filmmakers, particularly the independent ones,” Arjo Atayde said.
Meanwhile, the actor is excited to start the next season of Cattleya Killer. He shared that their director Dodo Dayao already has a continuation of the story as there were a lot of questions left unanswered.
