Rabiya Mateo praised Michelle Dee
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo shared that she was not surprised by Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee’s “coming out.”
After the national pageant this year and winning the crown, Michelle made a major revelation about herself. She came out as bis=xual.
The Kapuso actress said that the reason why she chose to come out after the pageant was that she does not her performance to be concentrated on her gender orientation but on her advocacy and her performance as a deserving beauty queen.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Rabiya Mateo said that this revelation from her fellow beauty queen did not shock her.
“I am happy for her. I am not actually surprised kasi, siyempre, nasa industry tayo ng people are kinda scared because of the judgment. Pero I know Michelle. She’s very tough,” the Ticktoclock host said.
Rabiya added that it seemed that Michelle just waited for the perfect moment for her to talk about her gender orientation. She also said that this is inspiring, just like what Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez did. Beatrice was the first MUPH winner who came out as bis=xual.
Meanwhile, Rabiya said that she believes Michelle will do a great job in representing the Philippines in the international pageant. “Inclusivity-wise, her back story… malakas ang laban ni Michelle, I’m telling you, guys,” the girlfriend of actor Jeric Gonzales stressed, adding that she knew the hard work that Michelle put on her pageant journey.
Rabiya Mateo also said that the Miss Universe Organization is very inclusive and open-minded.
