Lady Visitor Attempted to Smuggle Tobacco in New Bilibid Prison Arrested
Police authorities arrested lady visitor in New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City after she allegedly attempted to smuggle tobacco.
A visitor did not escape the attention of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) personnel. This occurred after she attempted to conceal contraband within the prison before entering the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
The female visitor was identified as Leilani Tividad, according to the report J/SINSP Angelina L. Bautista, OIC- Deputy Director for Operations and ODG-Head Executive Assistant. Catapang stated that Tividad was apprehended by BuCor security officers in the frisking area after 32 bars of tobacco products were discovered in his custody before entering the highest security zone.
Tividad, according to Bautista, should be prevented from re-entering the NBP. Based on the report, Tividad’s capture is also the outcome of BuCor’s enhanced campaign to cleanse the NBP of contraband brought in by tourists and even some corrupt NBP workers.
BuCor security officers recently apprehended one of their ‘friends’ who had hidden tobacco goods inside the ambulance he was driving. Despite this, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr maintained that his BuCor employees in charge of search and inspection locations for inbound visitors of those detained will stay watchful.
