Christian Bautista Talks About Rivalry W/ Fellow Singer Erik Santos
CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA – Kapuso singer and host Christian Bautista opened up about his alleged ‘rivalry’ with fellow singer Erik Santos.
Christian Bautista popularized the songs “The Way You Look At Me,” ‘Colour Everywhere,” and “Hands To Heaven.” Christian rose to fame when he joined in the TV musical competition ‘Star In A Million‘ where he finished as the fourth runner-up.
Erik Santos is the winner of the said talent show. His contemporary, Erik, who is also a balladeer, could not avoid comparing them.
Christian Bautista recently guested on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.” During the interview, he talked about the current state of his friendship with Erik Santos.
The 41-year-old singer opened up about his alleged “rivalry” with Erik. It was 2003 when Christian and Erik became contestants on the reality show singing competition Star In A Million.

When Christian appeared in an interview with TV host Boy Abunda on his program Fast Talk with Boy Abunda this Tuesday, May 30, Abunda asked about the state of friendship between Christian and Erik despite being “rivals”.
According to Asia’s Romantic Balladeer, the competition does nothing bad for him and Erik, rather it helps them to become better singers.
“Its a great place to be in kasi kahit na rivals kami at kahit na friends kami we bring out the best in each other so kapag meron siyang nilabas [na kanta], okay gusto kong galingan din kasi ginalingan niya, kapag meron naman akong nilabas, gusto rin niyang galingan so ang nagbe-benefit talaga is our fans and our audience.”
“So we keep that in mind, we are the best of friends, and yet we have to do our best in every show,” he added.
The King of Talk agreed with what Christian said. He said, “Ang gusto ko naman doon, competition can fuel excellence.”
