Bea Alonzo has started exploring the theater stage
Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo is set to star in a musical stage play next year after her cameo performance in the recent tribute concert Contra Mundum: Ang All-star Concert ng Ang Larawan that was held at the Metropolitan Theater Manila last week.
Bea has been expressive in past interviews that she loves to sing. She even recorded an album years ago. However, she also admitted that she is not that confident in this aspect compared to her known acting caliber.
This year, she had the chance to be part of the aforementioned concert that showcased not just her acting skills but also her singing voice.
Previously, Bea Alonzo said that through her training for the Contra Mundum, she was able to know how to utilize her voice, especially in a stage performance for a musical play. Through this project, she was able to have her theater debut.
That was not the last of Bea’s stint in the theater. Based on the article in Inquirer, she will star in a musical stage play in 2024 if plans push through. The actress confirmed that she is lined up for this project next year.
“Yes, I keep a busy work schedule, but as they say, you also have to do work that’s good for your soul,” the Kapuso star said about her theater debut.
In the same interview, the actress said that she accepted the role of fashionable socialite Elsa Montes because it does not require her to do “birit” songs. She also wanted to have fun with the character and she was able to do that.
“I consider it an offbeat role, compared to what I’ve done for TV and the movies through the years,” she said.
Bea Alonzo also shared that the part of this stint that she enjoyed the most was the environment. She said that the discipline in theater is indeed different. Everybody came on time and there was no one with a “bloated ego.”
“Since nobody was around to prompt us, I had to constantly check my phone to find out if it was already my turn to rehearse. I appreciated the presence of mind of these people and the discipline,” the actress added.
