ABS-CBN Ceases Operations Of TeleRadyo Effective June 30, 2023

On May 23, 2023, ABS-CBN released an official statement about its decision to cease the operations of TeleRadyo and this will be effective on June 30, 2023.

TeleRadyo is a channel owned by the Kapamilya network under its News and Current Affairs department. It has its own YouTube channel with over half a million subscribers.

Just like other departments and sub-networks of the media company owned by the Lopezes, TeleRadyo was also got affected by Congress’s decision not to renew its contract.

To recall, back in May 2020, ABS-CBN was forced to shut down and this devastated the management, talents, and employees of one of the biggest TV stations in the Philippines. From that, the network’s programs were greatly affected

On Tuesday, the network officially announced that it will discontinue the operations of TeleRadyo.

“TeleRadyo has been incurring losses since 2020,” it said. Since the network can no longer sustain TeleRadyo’s operations, the company is forced to cease operations effective June 30, 2023, to prevent further business losses.

The Kapamilya network is saddened by this because the closure means that they will let go of a lot of committed people who worked diligently in giving news and information to many Filipinos.

However, ABS-CBN is still focused on providing news to the people and so it is partnering with Prime Media Holdings Inc which will produce various programs that will be supplied to broadcasters and third-party platforms including Philippine Colletivemedia Corporation.

Through this partnership, ABS-CBN stated that this will give former personnel new job opportunities. “It is also a way to continue providing accurate and balanced news and information to the country,” the company stated.
