BuCor Chief Bantag, Zulueta Charged for Stabbing Inside Bilibid

BuCor Chief Bantag and Ex-Officer Zulueta Accused of Stabbing Inside Bilibid Prison

The suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag and ex-officer Ricardo Zulueta face charges over stabbing inside Bilibid prison.

The former Bantag and ex-BuCor deputy officer were charged by the DOJ in connection with the alleged stabbing of two gang commanders at the New Bilibid Prison in February 2022. The DOJ stated that they found adequate evidence to connect the two officials.

Bantag Zulueta Stabbing

According to the Department of Justice, Bantag and Zulueta were charged with two charges of physical and psychological torture and two counts of serious physical injuries. Meanwhile, Zulueta will be accused as well as an accessory to the crime.

The allegations of the victims, Ronald Usman and Jonathan Caeta, formed the basis of the case. Bantag, who was supposedly inebriated at the time, allegedly assaulted them inside Bilibid.

Usman claimed Bantag stabbed him in the leg, while Caneta was stabbed in the hand, paralyzing his middle finger. According to the DOJ, PDLs who reportedly witnessed the stabbing backed up Usman and Caneta’s claim.

According to the report, the case would be filed in the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court. Bantag and Zulueta have yet to respond to the claim.
