The chief of the Minglanilla police station, Police Capt Kalvin Jomari Golitod, stated that the neighbors’ relationship is strained due to the land dispute. They’ve been adversaries for a long time, according to Golitod.

After the attack, Sayago displayed no remorse. According to the report, Sayago stated that he intended to murder all of the family members at the time of the attack, but the.357 revolver he used malfunctioned.

“Kung hindi lang nag-malfunction ang baril ko, napatay ko silang lahat. Hindi ka na makakapag-isip ng maayos kapag nagsawa ka na sa ginawa nila. Dahil sa ginawa nila sa akin, hindi ako nagsisisi sa ginawa ko. Nawalan ako ng pasensya, sinubukan kong maging matiyaga,” Sayago said in her dialect.

Sayago accused his neighbors of uprooting the coconut palms he had planted on the border of their property. He purportedly planted coconut trees, but his neighbors continued to pull them up. Sayago reported that his coconut trees were uprooted for the sixth time on Saturday.

He claimed that when he realized on Saturday that the coconut trees he had planted had been uprooted yet again, he went home and grabbed his rifle. Sayago then proceeded to the victims’ residence.

He claimed he approached Alfredo, but they denied uprooting the coconut trees. Sayago claims that Alfredo’s daughters arrived and began criticizing him.

During the heated confrontation, the suspect pulled out a revolver and began killing the victims. Sayago also attempted to shoot Alfredo’s wife, but the.357 pistol jammed. Sayago stated that she went home to change her clothes after the shooting.

Sayago stated that he intended to surrender, but the responding officers were on their way to the police station. He claimed he received the rifle in return for the chicken. The suspect will be charged with double murder and frustrated murder, according to the police.
