One of the popular assignments in schools is character impersonation, where students imitate famous personalities to demonstrate their understanding of history or culture.
Recently, a student from Balcon Melliza Elementary School went viral after imitating former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for their Araling Panlipunan assignment.
In a Facebook post by Shara Galfo, she shared photos of the student with a caption that read, “Mga Aralin sa Araling Panlipunan balikan at huwag kalimutan para sa makasaysayang kinabukasan.”
According to the post, the teacher drew personalities for the students to imitate. The Grade 4 adviser drew former President Arroyo for her student. The photos show the student with a mole on her face, a neck brace, and a wheelchair, just like what happened to former President Arroyo.
Character impersonation is one of the teaching strategies used in schools to teach students about history and culture. Through this, it helps students understand the context of history or culture by providing a personal experience of using their knowledge of history or culture in impersonating personalities.
