Job Order Employee Now in Stable Condition After He Was Electrocuted

A job order employee of the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) who got electrocuted is now in stable condition and continuing to recover.

According to Dr. John Maliga, the Medical Professional Staff Chief and CRMC Spokesperson, the victim, Jarryd Akbal, accidentally touched a live wire while reaching for a mango. Dr. Maliga reported that the victim is currently in the ICU and is being closely monitored by the Surgery Department of the CRMC, led by Dr. Halima Mokamad-Romangcap.

Dr. Romangcap emphasized the seriousness of the victim’s condition, as the electrocution affected not only his skin but also his bones, heart, and entire body. However, she also shared that the patient is now in stable condition and is gradually recovering.

The health expert also urged parents and children to be careful and avoid touching wires and sockets to prevent electrocution accidents.

She advised that if someone gets electrocuted, the first thing to do is to turn off the power source and remove the wire using a non-conductive object, such as a wooden stick. The patient should then be immediately brought to the hospital for proper medical treatment.

Arlene Valdez Hepiga, the spokesperson for Cotabato Light, a local power company, expressed her concern about the incident and reminded the public to be cautious around electrical wires and equipment.

She also encouraged everyone to report any exposed or damaged electrical wires to their company for immediate repair to avoid similar accidents.
